Shoreside Petroleum, Inc. Company History
Shoreside Petroleum Inc. was established in 1986 in Seward Alaska, by Kurt Lindsey, a third generation Alaskan, and his wife Diana. Shoreside Petroleum was born out of a company called Marathon Fuel Service, established in 1981 in Seward. Marathon Fuel was owned jointly by Kurt and his business partner, Doug Lechner. When Doug sold out his interests to Kurt, Shoreside Petroleum Inc. was formed. Shoreside Petroleum serves a large and diversified customer base that includes retail gas stations, residential heating fuel, and numerous industry segments such as construction, aviation, transportation, and marine.
Roots in Alaska
In 1959, Kurt's parents Dale & Carol Lindsey purchased Andy's Oil, a petroleum
distributorship located in Seward where both were born. Dale & Carol expanded under the Petro Marine Services trade name in 1985. Petro Marine Services has grown into the largest Alaskan owned petroleum distributorship in the state. In 2011, it celebrated its 50th year in business.
With the family business consisting of Petro Marine Services and Shoreside Petroleum, it was an obvious career choice for Mathew Lindsey, the son of Kurt and Diana, to get involved in petroleum marketing. Matt currently serves as Vice President of Operations for Shoreside Petroleum.
Shoreside Petroleum credits its success to building long term relationships with its customers, suppliers, and employees, many of which have been with the company in excess of twenty years.
